Principal Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission

Ratepay is looking for a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with the development team to ensure a seamless and reliable deployment pipeline. You will also collaborate with other teams to identify and implement best practices for cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement and maintain Ratepay's cloud infrastructure in AWS at scale.
Own the org wide cloud and platform strategy and vision and execute it.
Manage and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Enable development teams to own their deployed applications by providing them with the tools they need
Create and maintain documentation on system architecture, processes, and procedures
Observability: Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues
Guide and educate the engineering organisation about operations and reliability
Develop and implement security best practices for cloud infrastructure
Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends
Undertake measured, methodical troubleshooting of complicated systems

That's what you bring along

You have knowledge of scalable production architectures (config management, monitoring, infrastructure-as-a-code, load balancing, CDNs, distributed systems)

You have experience with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS) and most of the following technologies: Docker, Terraform, Prometheus, Jaeger, Kafka, Vault
Software and System Engineers with a passion for system reliability and observability, you will build reliability as a feature into our core infrastructure and applications.
Experience using Data to diagnose and troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
Experience as a software developer [Python or Go].
You work anywhere in the stack, from right beside the OS and up.
Solid Linux background.
Familiarity with operations: metrics/statistics, incident management, post mortems etc.
You LOVE to automate things and passionate about mentoring and sharing knowledge

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
At least 8+ years of experience in AWS cloud infrastructure
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
Proficient in build CI/CD pipelines
Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure
Familiarity with security best practices for cloud infrastructure

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ratepay sucht einen Senior Cloud Engineer (m/w), der unser sich ständig weiterentwickelndes Technologie-Team in einer der aufregendsten Phasen unserer technischen Roadmap verstärkt!
Als Cloud Engineer bist du maßgeblich am Aufbau und der Pflege einer robusten, skalierbaren und effizienten Softwareplattform beteiligt und bringst Fachwissen in den Bereichen Infrastrukturdesign, Automatisierung, Cloud Computing, Skalierbarkeit, Sicherheit und Fehlerbehebung mit, um den reibungslosen Betrieb unserer Anwendungen und Dienste sicherzustellen.

Ratepay hat mit einer großen Cloud-Migration begonnen, die eines unserer bisher größten, komplexesten und spannendsten Technologieprojekte ist. Es handelt sich um eine große Initiative, bei der über 100 Microservices und eine große Anzahl von Datenbanken von unserem lokalen Rechenzentrum zu AWS migriert werden. Ein weiteres großes Projekt ist die Entwicklung einer Plattform für maschinelles Lernen zum Trainieren von Modellen zur Betrugs- und Risikovermeidung. Es ist natürlich eine sehr aufregende Zeit für uns!

Die Rolle und deine wichtigsten Beiträge

Automatisierung: Du kennst dich mit der Rationalisierung des Softwareentwicklungszyklus durch Automatisierung und Zusammenarbeit mit Tools wie Ansible und der Einbindung in CI/CD-Pipelines aus.

Cloud und Virtualisierung: Du verfügst über Fachwissen in AWS und Virtualisierung und optimierst unsere Infrastruktur im Hinblick auf Kosteneffizienz, Skalierbarkeit, Sicherheit und Hochverfügbarkeit. Du verwaltest hauptsächlich die Cloud, aber auch einige On-Premise-Bereiche.

Skalierbarkeit: Unsere Anwendungen werden wachsen und einen höheren Datenverkehr bewältigen müssen, also stellst du sicher, dass unsere Infrastruktur die Last bewältigen kann. Die Einrichtung von Mechanismen zur automatischen Skalierung, Leistungsüberwachung und Lastverteilung, um ein reaktionsschnelles und leistungsfähiges System zu erhalten, ist Teil deiner täglichen Arbeit.

Sicherheit: Du spielst eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Einhaltung von Industriestandards und Vorschriften. Du konfigurierst Firewalls, richtest sichere Zugangskontrollen, VPCs, Secrets Management und so weiter ein.

Fehlersuche: Wenn Probleme mit unserer Anwendungsinfrastruktur auftreten, untersuchst du sie, stellst Diagnosen und implementierst Lösungen, um Ausfallzeiten und Störungen zu minimieren.

Du unterstützt die SW-Engineering-Teams bei der Migration und dem Betrieb von Anwendungen in der Cloud.
Du dokumentierst die Plattformarchitektur und Prozesse
Du evaluierst und integrierst neue Technologien und Tools, um die Plattform zu verbessern
